The University of Lucknow is a state public university in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Established in 1867, it is one of India's oldest government-owned higher education institutes.

Main campus covers 219 acres at Badshah Bagh. The university also has a second campus in Jankipuram.

The university offers undergraduate postgraduate and doctoral courses. Its flagship programs include PG Diploma, M.A, MPH, M.Sc, MBA/PGDM, MHMTT, B.Voc and BBA. The university has many departments across disciplines like Arts, Commerce, Education and Engineering.

The student population is 16,000+ with a faculty-to-student ratio of 34-1. It has 556 affiliated colleges. Facilities include a yoga centre, child care centre, hostels, guest houses, canteens, health centre, library and sports amenities.

Admissions require valid score in an entrance test. Scores from CUET UG, CUET PG and JEE Main are also accepted. University is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) at 'A++' level and has UGC approval.

It is ranked 29th in India and 1587th globally in 2024. It scored in top 50% across 77 research topics and ranked 101 out of 200 colleges in India by NIRF in 2023. International collaborations exist with universities in Thailand, Nigeria and Denmark.

Placement rate ranges from 60% to 80%. The average package is INR 8.6 LPA and the highest package is INR 23.61 LPA. Major recruiters include Byju's, TCS, Wipro, HCL, IBM and VLCC.
