Andhra University Distance Education.
For Andhra University The School Of Distance Education has been the most colonist institution since 1972. The main focus of setting up this institution was to make Higher Education in reach of those students who belong to remote areas especially from Andhra Pradesh.
The School Of Distance Education provides UG courses like BA, B.Com and B.Sc. programmes. PG courses includes MA, M.Sc., M.Com, and LLM programmes. Professional courses like MBA, Executive MBA, MCA, MHRM, MJMC, B.Ed. and B.Ed. III Methodology/ MA Education III Methodology.
Talking about the strength of the university there over 45,000 of student strength along with the Academic Staff including 3,000 – 3,499 members. The university has a Public Type control making it a Government University which is preferred by most of the students.
Admission Procedures and Fee payment
The application procedures for The Distance Education are carried by both online and offline methods. For online application the applicants have to visit the Official website of AU-SDE and click on the tab of Online Admission. Then they have to click on the course they want to pursue and then fill the application form along with the application fees. The application form is then enclosed by various documents that are:
- Provisional Certificate of the qualifying examination.
- Identity card duly signed and photo affixed.
- Three address slips duly filled in.
- Receipt of Payment of fees.
- Two recent photographs.
- Proof of Date Of Birth.
- Entrance Eligibility- cum- Marks Statement original, if required.
The application fees for course like B.Ed. is INR 300 that the applicant have to deposit at SDE centre and INR 350 by post. The application form needs to filled carefully and the application fees INR 300 via DD drawn in favour of Registrar, AU needs to be submitted along with the listed documents.
For the courses like MBA and MCA the application fees is INR 500 which needs to be submitted along with the application form and DD of INR 500 in favour of Registrar, AU.
(For MBA and MCA students, their seats will be allotted to them during counselling session of the concerned entrance examination.)
The required documents for MBA and MCA students are:
- Degree/Provisional Certificate of the qualifying examination.
- Proof of DOB.
- Two copies of recent photographs.
- Receipt of Payment of Fees.
- Identity Card duly signed and photos affixed.
- Three address slips duly filled in.

Specialised Courses
Andhra University also provides Specialized courses in MBA like MBA in Hotel Management and Tourism, MBA in Finance, MBA in hospital Management, MBA in Human Resource Management, MBA in Retail Management and MBA in Marketing are some of the specialized courses for MBA.
Approval
Also, the overall courses available in Andhra University are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), University Grants Commission (UGC). The courses provided under The School Of Distance Education are approved by Distance Education Bureau.
Distance Education Bureau is a bureau of the University Grants Commission based in New Delhi, India established in 2012, replacing the Distance Education Council.
Rankings
Talking about the rankings of the Andhra University, it ranked amongst 301-350 University in Asia by QS World University Rankings of 2018. Andhra University ranked 29 in INDIA overall by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2019 and 16 among Universities. Andhra University was ranked 801-1000 in the world by the Times Higher Education World University. The University’s Country Ranking is 95 and the World Ranking is 4081.
Placements
According to the reviews by the students graduated from the University, the chances of placement from the campus are 70-75% and also depending upon the skills a students pertain. The salary package ranges from 7-10 LPA. Companies that have been visiting the University are like WIPRO, BHEL, IBM, Amazon, Infosys. Students can get good internships easily in companies like BHEL and steel plants, etc. according to the people the Andhra university which it was 10 years ago with 1005 placements, the situation have changed totally. It’s a bit obvious that due change in the market need of the manpower also changes because of the technology upgradation. For the students belonging from the core courses like chemical, mechanical or marine the packages offered can range from 3-6 LPA, which is a good start after under graduation. The frequently visited companies includes Hitachi, Honeywell, Halonix. Last year the highest package which was offered to the students was upto Rs. 12 lakhs. Engineering students are motivated to take part in internships to get practical exposure and knowledge in respective domain.
Scholarships available in Andhra University
There are several number of scholarships that are available in Andhra University. Each scholarship have different eligibility criteria. These scholarships are for those students who are domiciled to the state. These scholarships basically include maintenance charges, reimbursement of tuition fees, and other significance allowances. Like any other scholarships the amin idea behind these scholarships is to support the students financially who belong to SC/ST/BC/EBC, Minority and other disabled welfare community so that they are not deprived of higher education just because of financial problems.
