Jiwani University  is a public affiliated university established in 1964 in Madhya Pradesh. Started with just 24 colleges today it has over 400 government aided and private colleges under its jurisdiction. Providing courses various courses like Engineering, Science, Medical, Management, Arts and Commerce etc .

The Institute of Distance Education, Jiwaji University, was set up in 1995 for offering various courses in the distance education mode. Over 1000 students enroll every year in distance education programmes, approved by the DEC, New Delhi. The university itself is located on a 225 acre campus in Gwalior.

Admission and Application Procedure 

Admission Procedure –Applications  for the distance education courses can be made both online and offline. For offline mode, the candidate needs to obtain the application form and prospectus from one of the study centres or the main campus at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. For the online mode, the admission form needs to filled in, which is available at www.mponline.gov.in(Select Jiwaji University from the drop-down menu) and the application fee can be paid through the portal.  All students, irrespective of mode of application, can make payments and view their application status via the portal.

Application Fee – The cost of admission form is Rs.200. Candidates applying through the online mode must pay a fee of Rs.50 towards internet handling charges.

Important: For forms submitted till mid-October, there is no late fee. From mid-October to mid-November, the late fee is Rs.500 and mid-November to December, the late fee is Rs.1000.

Mode of Payment – In online mode, payments can be made either by a valid Credit/Debit card or by Challan from Central Bank, with the candidate’s name and application number written on the back. For details about the challan mode 2017-18 session onwards. In offline mode, Cash/Demand Draft facilities may be available depending on the study center. Demand Draft must be drawn in favor of ‘The Registar, Jiwaji University’ payable at Gwalior.

Supporting documents – While the originals are due after admission to a particular course, the application system requires the candidates to provide the following:

  1. Scanned passport-sized color photograph (under 200 KB, in JPEG/ JPG/ PNG/ GIF formats only)
  2. Scanned signature (Till 2015, the signature and the photograph was supposed to be a compound image)
  3. Education Details

Last date for application– The last date is usually mid-October every year, extended till first week of December with late fee for the Calendar Year session. For the Academic Year session, the last date is around mid-March, extended to May with late fee.

Fee Structure

As of 2013-14, the yearly fees for undergraduate and postgraduate courses was Rs.2500, professional courses was Rs.5000 and MBA was Rs.10000 (Refer – http://www.jiwaji.edu/pdf/distance-education/admission2013-14/Profile%20Distance%20Education%202013-2014.pdf). Ques. When does the fee need to be paid?

Ans. The fee is usually paid at the beginning of each semester.

Ques. Can it be paid in installments?

Ans. Yes, the course fee for most of the courses is paid in two equal installments every year.

Scholarships

There are no scholarships available for students through the distance education mode. However, a limited number of scholarships might be available to women and reserved category students below a certain income limit, provided by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Please contact the appropriate state government department or Jiwaji University for more details.

Scholorship is available for regular students belonging to SC/ST caste.

Eligibility Criteria

a)Age Criteria – Applicants must be at least 17 years of age for applications made to undergraduate courses. There is no upper age limit for any of the courses.

b) Reservation Criteria – There is a reservation of seats and fee concession for candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC and PwD categories for many of the courses. Please refer to the prospectus for course-specific reservation criteria.

c) Minimum Qualification –The following are the general minimum eligibility criteria for various courses:

d) Undergraduate courses: Must have passed higher secondary/ intermediate/ 10+2 level or equivalent with the subject in the course. (For example, the candidate must have Physics at 10+2 level to be eligible to apply to B.Sc Physics)

e)Postgraduate courses: Must be a graduate from a recognized university with the PG subject at the Bachelor’s level.

Note: Distance Education courses will be operational only if the minimum intake is 10. Please contact the administrative office to check if the course is running. The total number of intakes for the PG Diploma in Computer Application is 60.

All programmes under the Institute of Distance Education are approved by the UGC and the Distance Education Council (DEC), New Delhi.

Distance MBA Course

The university offers:-

  • a three-year General MBA programme and
  • (two-year programmes in Rural Technology and Management (RTM) and Chemical Sales &Marketing Management (CSMM)

a) Eligibility and Application Procedure – The MBA programme follows the same application procedure as the other courses (see above). The minimum eligibility criteria is graduate in any discipline with minimum 45% aggregate from a recognized university. Jiwaji University may conduct additional examinations for admission. Please consult the prospectus for more information.

b) Fee Structure – In the 2013-14 session, the yearly fee was Rs.15000. Please contact the administrative office for updated fee structure.

c) Specializations offered – For the three-year MBA programme, the specializations available are (i) Finance (ii) Marketing and (iii) Human Resource Management. The two-year programme has RTM and CSMM as specializations.

d) Subjects and Syllabus–The first year common syllabus includes Management Concepts, Business Communication Skills, Managerial Economics, Organisational Behavior and Computer Applications, among many others.
